“RelationShift” was a reshaped follow-up project of the youth exchanges “Me and others”, which our organization implemented in the past. It consisted of the youth exchange as a main activity, which gathered 31 youngsters from 6 different countries. The background of this project came from the needs of young people that lack practical skills and life experience, which results into low self-esteem, discouragement, languor and even depression. This project was aimed around the necessity of being aware of own skills, capabilities, weak and strong sides, which are features of intrapersonal intelligences, as well as developing social and communication skills – features of interpersonal intelligence. Participants had an opportunity to deepen in getting to know themselves and people around them better, discovering similarities and differences, and respecting them at the same time. During 10 days participants learned to establish positive relationships with the outside world, gained the ability to speak and defend their ideas in the community, got to know themselves better and developed themselves in every sense. With these activities, we wanted to give a chance to improve intrapersonal abilities such as self-confidence, self-control, self-awareness and self-esteem; and offer the chance to develop interpersonal abilities such as being a team player, problem solving, understanding, respect for similarities and differences, nonviolent communication. The main long-term goal of the project was to enable young people to meet the needs of the modern labor market with the competencies they could have gained in this project.
