Objectives

The ModeIn project was conceived upon the poignant observation that a significant portion of today's youth lacked essential social skills crucial for personal growth, social independence, and overall life improvement. Recognizing the profound impact of social skills on various facets of life, from job success to emotional well-being, the project sought to address this deficit by emphasizing that social skills are learned abilities, extending beyond mere manners. Driven by the concerns and aspirations of young people deeply invested in societal issues, ModeIn was propelled into action by a team comprising youths and rooted in their collective concerns. Partner organizations, recognizing the significance of the project, pledged their support, playing a crucial role in facilitating the realization of the youth group's vision. Through their assistance, the project gained momentum, enabling youths to leverage their experiences and channel their ideas into impactful initiatives. The overarching aim of ModeIn was to instill in participants the understanding that social skills are teachable and fundamental to navigating various aspects of life successfully. By equipping youths with advanced social skills and fostering competencies necessary for educating others in this domain, the project aimed to pave the way for their holistic development. It underscored the importance of preparing youths with the means to overcome obstacles and thrive in their endeavors. The project identified specific social skills vital for overcoming life obstacles, including basic communication skills, empathy and emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and accountability. By honing these skills through tailored activities, participants were empowered to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience. Moreover, ModeIn contributed to the goals of the Erasmus+ program by providing opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities to participate actively. By fostering inclusivity and diversity acceptance, the project reinforced the values championed by the program, thereby enriching the experiences of all participants.
