Objectives

Young people in Europe were becoming increasingly committed and enthusiastic as they longed to actively participate in society and share their thoughts. A big focus of the EU Youth Strategy was on getting young people involved in politics and empowered. It soon became clear, though, that boldness and zeal might not be enough on their own. Assistance was needed to turn these wonderful concepts from idle speculation into concrete reality. In order to prevent demotivation or the desire to give up on their initiatives, our objective was to encourage young people to create informal groups or youth associations and then to give them the required direction on planning, implementing, and administering projects. In light of the results of Eurobarometer 478, it is clear that over 40% of young people believe that their education does not prepare them effectively for leadership and entrepreneurship. In our previous projects, we have found that participants are very interested in starting their own programs and workshops and have a strong desire to make a difference at the local, state and federal levels. Later, upon their return to their home countries, they formed informal groups or youth organizations, and some even took up more active roles in neighborhood NGOs. We discussed their needs and difficulties in more detail in our subsequent discussions. Many wanted to start their own projects but lacked the necessary skills, while others were already leading local projects and wanted to expand internationally but were hesitant due to trust and skills issues. Ultimately, the aim of the project was to fill the knowledge and skills gaps of informal groups and partner organizations in running regional and national operations. We intended to establish a solid basis so that young people could effectively develop and actualize their ideas. Our strategy involves setting up a youth exchange program that was geared on teaching the fundamentals of project management. It was important for young people to be knowledgeable about local, national, and international fundraising alternatives before starting their own projects. In addition, they needed to be knowledgeable about a variety of project management topics, including accounting, writing project charters, specifying scope statements, developing work breakdown schedules, evaluating performance, and measuring impact. They also needed to be proficient in digital marketing, social media communication, designing communication plans, risk management, team management, and conflict resolution, among other crucial abilities. This thorough training was designed to avoid chaos and the difficulties brought on by "scope creep," which could otherwise degrade the standard of their projects and overall learning experiences. Specific and tangible objectives were: To learn how to handle projects by putting on workshops that focus on the basics. Talked about what project management is, how it can be used, and what skills you need to do it.. After the end of the project, participants learnt how to develop their idea, plan a new project, fundraise money and successfully execute it. Prepared projects - we wanted the alumni of this project to implement the gained knowledge by creating their own projects. As an outcome of this project, new projects (4 local and 6 international) were created. They shared what they had learned with their friends and coworkers. Create at least a 30 minutes long podcast, summarizing the basics of project management. This contains information about the youth exchange itself but more importantly, it summarizes the knowledge provided during the workshops. We understand that improvement of digital skills especially after Covid-19 is necessary more than ever. Therefore we tried to implement current labor requirements so that participants can benefit from this project and get updated skills.
