Objectives

Green policy stands as one of the European Union’s priorities, driven by the daily impact of the climate crisis on European citizens' mental health and social cohesion. The Rethink Youth Exchange Project was crafted to revolve around instilling a fresh perspective in young individuals and examining the impact of the environmental crisis on youth mental health. The Youth Exchange, aligned with the Erasmus+ Programme, focused on reshaping the mindset of young individuals and analyzing the environmental crisis's impact on their mental health. Objectives aligned with the Erasmus+ Programme's mission to connect with young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, and improve their well-being. Exploration of best practices, campaigns, and initiatives implemented in various communities, along with a diverse participant group, furthered the Programme's goal of engaging individuals from diverse backgrounds. All activities, including team-building exercises, interactive workshops, and training, were developed with a participatory approach based on non-formal learning tools and methods. The project aimed to maximize its outreach to act as leverage for local society, fostering change in daily life and mindset. In essence, the project sought to kindle a spark of change for the locals, highlighting ways people could support their peers individually or through formed groups and structures. Consequently, its objectives were closely aligned with those of the broader Erasmus+ Programme, which, in its pursuits, aimed to connect with young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, and enhance their well-being. Emphasizing inclusion and equity, with a commitment to respecting, protecting, and emphasizing non-discrimination, emotional well-being, and mental health of young individuals, the project, grounded in these values, remained fully consistent with Erasmus+. Throughout its activities, the Exchange aimed to inspire individuals to adapt to the new reality of the environmental crisis and overcome the challenges associated with transitioning to a zero-waste lifestyle. Participants delved into best practices, campaigns, and initiatives already implemented in diverse communities. The diverse composition of the participant group, comprising young individuals from different countries and backgrounds, resonated with the overarching objective of the Programme to engage individuals from varied cultural, social, and economic contexts. Additionally, all activities within the project, including team-building exercises, interactive workshops, and training, were developed with a participatory approach based on non-formal learning tools and methods.
