The main aim of the project was to empower young people—especially those with fewer opportunities—by engaging them in a participatory process of cultural heritage preservation, community engagement, and non-formal learning. Through the revival and promotion of the historic "Salt Road" trail, we aimed to strengthen youth participation in democratic life and support their active involvement in local development. The objectives of the project included: fostering civic responsibility and collective action, enhancing digital and intercultural competences, encouraging creativity and teamwork, promoting environmental awareness, and connecting youth with their cultural roots. Additionally, the project sought to build bridges between generations and communities through the collection of oral histories, and to reinforce collaboration between local authorities, youth organizations, and European partners. Ultimately, we aimed to create a long-lasting, youth-led cultural route that could serve as a model of good practice for rural youth engagement and sustainable heritage tourism.
