Objectives

The project aimed to promote active youth engagement in agricultural and rural policy-making within the EU by empowering young people from rural areas to participate in decision-making processes that directly impact their communities and the future of sustainable agriculture. By integrating youth into the democratic discussion surrounding agriculture, the project sought to ensure their voices are heard in shaping the EU's agricultural policies, particularly through the EU Youth Dialogue framework. The key objectives of the project were as follows: To Promote Active Youth Participation in Policy-making: The project empowered young people, particularly those from rural backgrounds, to engage directly in agricultural and environmental policy discussions. It aimed to give them the tools and platform to contribute meaningfully to decision-making processes, fostering a sense of agency in matters that affect their everyday lives. - Through targeted training and events, the project helped participants develop critical leadership and communication skills. These skills are essential for expressing their opinions, advocating for their needs, and engaging in constructive dialogues that challenge the decisions of agricultural authorities, thereby encouraging a culture of critical thinking and self-representation. - One of the project's main goals was to enhance young people's understanding of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the "Farm to Fork" strategy. By familiarizing participants with these policies, the project aimed to build a knowledgeable youth base that can advocate for sustainable and inclusive practices within the EU agricultural framework. - The project utilized workshops, debates, and participatory events to create spaces for intercultural dialogue. These activities allowed young people from diverse backgrounds to share experiences, discuss the impacts of policies on their communities, and unite in their vision for youth engagement in agriculture across the EU. - The project set up structures like Youth Advisory Committees to ensure that young people could continue to participate in policy discussions beyond the project's duration. This aimed to create lasting networks that support youth involvement in agricultural and rural policy-making. By achieving these objectives, finally, the project supported the EU Youth Strategy and contributed to Youth Goals #9 (Space and Participation for All) and #10 (A Sustainable and Green Europe). Ultimately, the project empowered young people to become informed advocates for sustainable agriculture, giving them the tools to shape the future of their communities and the EU's agricultural landscape.
