Asociacion Arte Terapia Minarai organized a youth exchange in June 2023 with the aim of increasing gender awareness and reducing gender inequality in Europe. The organization recognized the rising issues of hate speech, discrimination, and inequalities faced by young women, both in Spain and Europe. They observed that young women in Spain reported experiencing physical or sexual abuse at the hands of intimate partners, and women and girls spent a significant amount of time on unpaid care and household duties.Similarly, they acknowledged that women's human rights are not fully realized in Europe, with sex and gender discrimination still prevalent. The rise of reactionary movements and hate speech directed at women further exacerbates the situation. Violence against women remains a severe human rights abuse, and the response of national authorities is often insufficient. While progress has been made in some areas, there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve women's rights and gender equality. To address these issues, Asociacion Arte Terapia Minarai organized a Youth Exchange focused on gender awareness raising. The goal was to increase the general sensitivity, understanding, and knowledge of young people who are the future politicians, law-makers, teachers, and parents. By involving them in gender awareness raising activities, the organization aimed to inspire them to become change-makers and decrease gender inequality in Europe. They believed that artistic expression, particularly theater, could effectively increase societal knowledge and challenge one-sided narratives. The organization collaborated with three partner organizations from Turkey, France, and Greece, where women's inequality is still an urgent problem. The youth exchange aimed to identify the needs of the target group and provide them with the necessary knowledge and strategies to combat gender inequality.
