We observe that towns in rural areas of Aragon, Spain and many European countries have similar problems, such as the exodus of young people to the city due to the lack of attractiveness at a social, cultural, sports and leisure level, and they have even more difficulty when finding a job or undertaking. This process of depopulation aggravated in the 21st century in many towns takes several generations. We wanted to contribute novelties to the social and economic life of these areas through artistic and cultural creation. The Spanish Network for Rural Development (REDR) in the REDPOBLAR report, 2019 provided conclusions about the lack of opportunities in rural areas: rural youth want better communications, a broader, more attractive training and leisure offer adapted to the rural world, which can stimulate them. In this report, he contributed that youth "positively value getting involved in the social life of towns through associations, activities and events that help to generate cohesion". In 2021, the European Commission presented its new action plan on "Youth and the Long-Term Vision for the Rural Areas of the European Union" *counting among its specific objectives: "To promote the participation and reflection of young people, around long-term vision and encourage them to be active agents in the rural development of their territories. Create contact networks between young people who are interested in rural areas. In fact, our association "La Zarandilla", the Nature and leisure center with the hostels, the new bar or the swimming pools have been promoted by the city council to fix the population, but they have not been enough, although it is true that thanks to these initiatives they have lost fewer young. Our “RUR'ACT” project includes proposals from ENRD and the European Commission to keep young people in the villages, provides new proposals based on the creation of Art and Culture Fairs, within the new thinking, to complete other initiatives already underway. . From La Zarandilla and the partner associations, we want to promote creativity in a group of rural youth, improve their skills to energize recreational and cultural events, providing them with key tools to empower themselves and get involved in being part of the change in their community with their active participation. We want to promote the creative expression of the participants and improve their skills to organize practical events (Creative and Cultural Expression Fair), providing attractive socio-cultural and economic activities demanded by the youth of the town and its surroundings, which can be used in any rural area of Europe. Everything raised at the meeting including sustainability criteria, gender equality and solidarity The general objectives of the RUR'ACT meeting have been: - Provide young people from the rural world (or active in rural areas) with sustainable tools and structures so that they can develop personal, social and professional initiatives in their locality. - Provide rural youth with the skills to develop local recreational and cultural events in their towns that favor social transformation and youth participation - Boost both creativity in different forms of artistic expression - Generate a dossier of good practices with everything discussed at the meeting, which would be made available to European associations and young people on online platforms Specific objectives: - Provide young people with tools and skills to promote initiatives in their town to promote social and cultural revitalization and involve young people and promote volunteering. -Promote actions and activities that take into account the balance of the surrounding ecosystem - Promote European values, respect for human rights, gender equality and solidarity to build inclusive societies - Empower and guarantee the autonomy of young people with fewer opportunities - Strengthen the role of youth as an active actor in their community through various creative activities (animations, fairs, events) - Strengthen the competencies (personal, social, and active citizenship, in terms of culture and expression, linguistics, entrepreneurship...) of the participants.
