This project served to create a space where young people can sheir tools to enhance their well being and mental health via artistic perspective, such as art therapy techniques, music therapy techniques, drama therapy and gestalt theatre activities. The mental health of young people is strickingly concerning since the covid pandemy hit the world in 2020 (UNICEF, 2022). Given these turbulent times and ongoing societal changes, we can see that the population of young people is lacking tools to cope with their mental health issues and emotional management in general. Many youth workers and researchers have expressed concern about mental health and anxiety within the previous years and noted that children and young people are increasingly struggling with their mental health and emotional stability. This youth exchange aimed on sharing a space where young people from various European countries can show and experience each others their tools and strategies from the background of art to enhance their mental health, coping strategies, empathy and self-regulation via non-formal education methods and activities from the area of art therapy. We invited young people who have the experience with expressive art or are interested in this sphere, to learn from each other from various perspectives (music, painting, body movement, clay work, theatre etc.). Participants of this project had the possibility to create workshops and conduct activities for each other that had a goal to create space for emotional expression. Activities were group oriented as well as individual and they served the purpose to equip young participants with experiences, sharing and tools that can be helpful for them back home in their private lives as well as their own communities. We promoted activities with artistic context in order to: 1. Support participants in identifying emotions and their bodily experiencing, emotional management, such as working with anxiety, sadness, anger, fear, guilt and other emotions. 2. Learn to better understand ones needs and limits and express them to others in constructive ways. 3. Work with the concept of self-management, the path to professional development and the theme of will and motivation. 4. Grow on the level of relationships, group settings, communication and empathy for oneself and others. 5. Learn to facilitate group programs via workshops and activities that participants will provide to each other. The methodology of this project was based in the combination of all the expertise and experiences of the group, group leaders included (art, music and theater therapy), as well as knowledge and experience of each participant invited to this youth exchange.
