Environment and climate change are two of the most urgent challenges that we are currently facing at the European and global levels. According to a Eurobarometer survey, the increase in the amount of waste is one of the issues that most concerns citizens. This issue affects young people especially since the most dramatic consequences of climate change will occur in their future. A survey conducted at the beginning of the year by the EU, the African Union, and UNICEF, in which the opinions of 450,000 young people were collected, shows how 88% of them feel responsible for addressing climate change. The data indicates that young people consider environmental awareness as the main key action in this regard, accompanied by waste recycling and resource consumption reduction. In 2018, a series of directives on the circular economy were approved at the European level, focusing especially on waste management. This project aimed to promote the awareness of young people regarding the environment and the fight against climate change, considering that involving and educating young people in recycling, waste transformation, and circular economy is essential to move towards more ecological and planet-respectful dynamics and ways of living. Working with socially and economically marginalized youth, we sought to promote their personal empowerment and learning through mobility adopting an ecological and sustainable perspective. The project adopted an inclusive approach, deeply valuing diversity, so that all activities would be accessible to young people in situations of exclusion regardless of their culture or nationality, as both FES and our Partners work with different vulnerable youth groups (migrants, newly emerged from communities, originating from remote areas, etc.). In summary, the objectives have been: Promote reuse, reduction, and repair. Develop skills related to environmental conservation. Foster awareness among young people regarding the environment and the fight against climate change. Promote personal empowerment and learning of marginalized youth, from an ecological and sustainable perspective. Promote the digitization of education.
