The "Youth Building Opportunities for Tomorrow" project was designed to address the complex needs of young people in care and those with fewer opportunities in four specific countries: Spain, Italy, Nord-Macedonia and France. These young people faced unique challenges due to their past in public or private institutions, often resulting in a lack of support networks, skills and opportunities for their future. The project sought to establish a holistic approach linking the experience and work of various organisations in these countries. A youth exchange was used as a platform for skills development and capacity building among the young participants. This strategy not only provided an opportunity for practical learning, but also allowed young people to recognise and share their experiences, which was essential for their personal and social development. In addition, it was recognised that it was important to understand the complexity of the changes that young people experienced as they came of age. This included considering the different conditions under which each young person reached this crucial point in their lives, as well as the specific particularities of young people in care at this transitional stage.
