Objectives

YPA Spain, in collaboration with the Consortium, desgined and implemented this project after identifying an urgent priority to workon the following points of action that could be a solution to NEETs’ crisis: ● The nexus bond that youth work represents with NEETs: since youth workers can engage with marginalized and excluded young people through non-formal learning methods, they are the best providers of non-formal financial education for NEETs. ● The need of NEETs for financial literacy is to adopt healthy financial practices, have a greater labor market insertion, achieve financial stability, effective management of money and debt, better regulation, and less financial stress and anxiety. Hence, the Consortium agreed that this project would promote NEETs’ employabiity, economic stability, and better financial management through the development of youth workers’ financial competencies and educational non-formal methods. This project aimed to empower European NEETs (representing the 13% of youth) by training youth workers. Our consortium seeked to provide youth workers and their respective organizations with resources, methodologies, and intellectual assets, thus enhancing financial empowerment of NEETs. In line with this objective, we also identified the importance of promoting financial education in a multilayered way (our targets being NEETs, young people, and youth workers/organizations). Hence, our consortium developed this project to achieve two main objectives: ● Increase financial education of youth workers, raising the quality of their work with regards to NEETs employability. ● Achieve, subsequently, the financial empowerment of NEETs – by ensuring that youth workers transfer to them the knowledge, skills and attitudes gained through this project -. With the purpose of achieving these main two aims, YPA Spain, together with the Consortium, established more detailed objectives that could enhance the effectiveness of the outcomes of the project: ● Help youth workers discover, investigate, and evaluate practical tools and resources (platforms, applications, alternative exercises, and methods) that could be applied for financial and educational reasons. ● Push youth organizations to explore, learn, and feel inspired by financial skills provided through EU policies, projects, conventions, or grants. ● Give guidance to implement and develop new methods, dynamics, and financial educational patterns to help NEETs be self-sufficient, confident, independent, and resilient. ● Increase youth workers’ consciousness of EU assets, tools, resources, and funds to enhance the power of youth work to promote financial education and awareness. Finally, the project hadthe financial competence framework for adults as a grounding basis, developed by the European Commission, jointly with the OECD-. In this framework, they detail the skills and knowledge that adults need when it comes to personal finance. The evolution of our training week and the topics covered throughout it were inspired and retrieved from the framework.
