Objectives

Since the beginning of humanity, there have been a series of conflicts between human beings. This fact is due to the diversity of the population that has existed and continues to exist today, which makes up a community or a country. We find ourselves in a society in which each country has its own objectives, interests, desires or goals and conflicts usually occur when two or more sovereignties have discrepancies in said objectives, interests, desires and/or goals or pursue the same and there are a dispute between them. The European Union is based on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. These values are common to the Member States in a society characterized by pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men. People have the right to enjoy in the Union the rights granted to them by the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and the Treaty on European Union (TEU). Observing the political situation and various open wars in different parts of the world, it was clear that weapons were not the solution. The time had come to understand that the best way to resolve conflicts was to confront them openly and engage in negotiations to seek mutually beneficial results. All of this was framed in dialogue, the exchange of information and agreements, basic elements for resolving conflicts that were closely linked to the maturity of a social system. In this project, we sought to capture the attention of those who worked with young people from different countries, teaching them that conflict resolution was applicable in almost any disagreement. It was argued that our daily lives consist of a series of negotiations that take place every day, and that was what young people needed to learn. The goal was to provide solid reasons to negotiate and resolve difficult situations. To do this, emphasis was placed on the need to understand more about the ideas, beliefs, motivations and backgrounds of people living in specific countries. To approach a conflict adequately, it was essential to learn to see it from the perspective of the other, the opponent. It was argued that in that process, participants could better understand the perspectives and motivations of a specific group, thus ensuring that relationships not only continued, but also grew, allowing for the formation of new allies. The ultimate purpose was to teach how to find peaceful solutions to difficult situations. The general objective of the project was to share strategies for conflict resolution in different areas, with specific objectives such as improving skills to identify positive and negative emotions that influence the social life of young Europeans, raising awareness about the consequences of aggressive behavior and strengthen self-control strategies for conflict resolution.
