"Connect with Your Outdoor Senses" is a two-stage project that aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth workers, trainers, and leaders coming from the EU and EECA region. The project aims to activate the youth society through engagement in a healthy lifestyle, outdoor activities, sustainability of resources and environment and to provide the tools for further dissemination of these values in their local communities. The training course will be based on non-formal education principles and will be prepared by qualified trainers, to share the maximum of their experience in that field, in order to help participants to use gained knowledge and practical skills in activities, which will help throughout the project. The main objectives of the project are to raise awareness about outdoor health-promoting activities and healthy lifestyle and to show participants how to disseminate the gained knowledge among the youth, give participants the opportunity to experience the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and outdoor activities, make changes in their everyday lives and see the results on their health by themselves, deepen participant’s appreciation of the environment and commitment to work for sustainability and at the same time to understand nature in a different way and began to reflect on the unnecessary damage being done to the environment by the technologies we enjoy, put participants in a natural environment where they can gain knowledge of local culture and share their own culture at the same time, give participants the opportunity to practice outdoor activities and use open space for creativity and self-development, empower youth workers and trainers to cover this topic in their target group and during other projects, give participants the opportunity to work together as a group, encourage cooperation, put differences aside and be equal in the team while establishing strong bonds. Finally, the project is based on the needs, characteristics and interests of the participants. Therefore, an approach based on the different learning models (visual, auditory and kinesthetic), as well as the different intelligences is proposed in order to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and maximize the consolidation of learning. The main objectives of the project are: - To raise awareness about outdoor health-promoting activities and healthy lifestyle and to show participants how to disseminate the gained knowledge among the youth; - To give participants the opportunity to experience the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and outdoor activities, make changes in their everyday lives and see the results on their health by themselves; - To deepen participant’s appreciation of the environment and commitment to work for sustainability and at the same time to understand nature in a different way and began to reflect on the unnecessary damage being done to the environment by the technologies we enjoy; - To put participants in a natural environment where they can gain knowledge of local culture and share their own culture at the same time; - To give participants the opportunity to practice outdoor activities and use open space for creativity and self-development; - To empower youth workers and trainers to cover this topic in their target group and during other projects; - To give participants the opportunity to work together as a group, encourage cooperation, put differences aside and be equal in the team while establishing strong bonds. The methodology used to achieve the aforementioned objectives was highly participatory, with the entire participating group playing a leading role in all phases. We highlight the use of experiential learning in nature, also known as outdoor education, providing spaces for community reflection through the use of this methodology.
