Objectives

In line with our application, the Expresart-E project emerged as an initiative designed to train youth workers in teaching the expression of emotions through various artistic disciplines, as well as fundamental concepts of emotional intelligence, with the aim of conveying this knowledge to the young people they interact with and work with in their respective entities or organizations. In the current context, characterized by challenges such as the pandemic, armed conflicts, a worrying increase in suicide rates, diagnoses of depression, and economic crises, the importance of mental health and emotional well-being among young people has become an urgent priority. This concern and seriousness are reflected in various studies and publications, such as UNICEF's "On my mind" (2021) or Save the Children's "Growing Up Healthy" (2022). On the other hand, there is abundant research supporting the highly positive impact of emotional education on people's mental health, as well as the relevance of art in the development of emotional competencies. In this sense, the training proposed in Expresart-E not only responds to an urgent need in today's society but is also based on solid evidence and studies supporting the effectiveness of these interventions in promoting emotional well-being and resilience among young people. Therefore, the fundamental objective of Expresart-E was to offer concrete and effective alternatives to address challenges related to mental health and emotional well-being among young people. Our purpose was to provide youth workers with a wide range of tools, both theoretical and practical, through non-formal education methodologies, to teach exercises and techniques of emotional expression through art in various disciplines, including photography, collage, painting, installations, and performance. With this comprehensive training, we aimed to empower participants to implement innovative and creative strategies in their work with young people, thus promoting their emotional well-being and holistic development. The 15 objectives we set for the project were as follows: 1. Participants acquire basic theoretical knowledge about emotional education and its relationship with mental health and well-being. 2. Participants acquire emotional competencies. 3. Participants apply art as a means of expressing emotions. 4. Participants acquire new techniques and exercises applicable to the young people they work with in their home country. 5. Participants generate artistic works, stageable or exhibitable, using the resources offered during the project. 6. Participants engage in the entire project process (before, during, and after), as well as the partners. 7. Participants demonstrate interest in the themes addressed during the TC. 8. Participants increase their skills in different artistic disciplines, as well as in non-formal education. 9. Participants develop artistic sensitivity in the process of creating art and stimulate creativity and imagination. 10. Participants use artistic expression as a tool to facilitate communication, dialogue, and exchange. 11. Participants acquire new tools to generate social actions and significant changes through non-formal education and artistic disciplines. 12. A network of work and cooperation in the youth field is generated between partner entities and the Miras association. 13. Participants acquire greater intercultural awareness and learn to transmit it to the young people they work with. 14. Transnational mobilities are facilitated to youth workers for the purpose of learning and exchanging good practices. 15. A virtual gallery is created to share the works resulting from the project.
