Objectives

The twenty-first century has seen significant international migration, resulting in multicultural societies in major European nations and globally. Integration has become a challenging issue, particularly with non-European immigrants, leading to varying degrees of knowledge among EU member states. Around 20 million non-EU citizens, constituting over 4 percent of the population, legally reside in Europe but face disproportionate challenges in employment, education, housing, and healthcare. Failed integration can lead to xenophobia, racism, and social tensions. Effective cultural integration promotes economic and social inclusivity, humanistic values, talent development, and exchanging ideas. Understanding different cultures through food, music, and traditions is vital for fostering cultural acceptance and transmitting cultural heritage. Food, in particular, plays a significant role in proclaiming cultural identity and preserving traditions, even among immigrants. Immigrants take the cuisine of their native country with them wherever they go, and preparing traditional dishes is a means for individuals to keep their culture even after moving to other areas. It is significant, uniquely, and individually. They introduce their culture by introducing their traditional cuisine to others. Thus, this project aimed to increase awareness of various cultures by highlighting their distinctive culinary practices. With the assistance of this project, participants from other countries had a chance to promote their traditional dishes to other people and train their fellow participants on how to prepare them. Additionally, this effort aimed to help young people establish a more robust relationship with their own culture and recognize the value of culture in maintaining the legacy. Cooking is a great way to learn about different cultures and cuisines, which was one of the project's primary goals, "United Chefs." Other goals of the project included: - Improving participants' fundamental skills; - Increasing intercultural understanding among participants; - Increasing participants' cultural awareness; - Promoting opportunities available through Erasmus+ among young people; - Developing interpersonal skills of those involved.
