Objectives

In response to the challenges of the post-pandemic reality, the project UpRural! — Re-engaging youth in rural areas through social innovation and entrepreneurship aimed to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of young people in rural areas, with the goal of preventing their marginalization, addressing youth unemployment, and mitigating the desertification of rural regions. The COVID-19 crisis had sparked a trend of urban-to-rural migration, presenting an opportunity to rejuvenate and make rural territories more attractive. The core objectives of our project were as follows: O1: Empower 30 youth workers with non-formal education methods and tools, focusing on the concept of social innovation for resilience in times of crisis, to act as catalysts for positive change in the development of EU rural areas. O2: Combat youth unemployment in European rural areas by encouraging youth participation and promoting rural entrepreneurship. O3: Empower participating youth to actively engage in community building through various actions and campaigns. O4: Develop a comprehensive toolkit and video containing tools and methods to assist youth workers in effectively engaging and empowering their youth. Through these objectives, our project brought a contribution to the revitalization of rural areas, enhanced socio-territorial and economic resilience, and actively involved youth in steering positive change, especially in the aftermath of the recent pandemic, positioning them as key stakeholders in the EU's journey toward recovery and progress.
