Objectives

The Dare to Dream - Act and Impact project was conceptualised and executed with the overarching goal of empowering and transforming young European citizens into capable and active changemakers. The project aimed to inspire the youth to find their passions, visualise their dreams, and equip them with the skills and tools to turn these dreams into reality. The project emerged as a response to the challenges faced by the youth in a post-pandemic Europe, encompassing individual insecurities, societal defiance towards issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and peace. The primary objectives were to provide a safe and friendly space for youth to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for civic engagement and to inspire them to create and implement their own projects. Building on the success of the 2022 project 'The Power in Youth,' which focused on recovering and reviving communities after the pandemic, this year's initiative aimed to address the evolving needs and aspirations of young people. Through comprehensive feedback mechanisms, the project team identified key areas of concern, including the overwhelming challenges faced by the youth and their desire to make a tangible impact on issues such as mental health, sustainability, and inclusive society. The project aligned with European Youth Goal 8: Quality Learning, aiming to guarantee universal and equal access to quality education and lifelong learning. To fulfil this objective, a variety of formal, non-formal, and informal learning activities were organised, focusing on personalised, participative, and cooperative learning methods. These activities were tailored to develop interpersonal, intercultural, digital, relational, and practical skills, providing concrete skills and experiences to engage in meaningful projects for the benefit of society. In response to the youth's call for concrete skills and experiences, the project prioritised addressing Youth Goals 3 (Inclusive Society), 5 (Mental Health and Wellbeing), and 10 (Sustainable Green Europe). Concrete actions included tree planting, gardening, working with homeless persons and refugees to foster inclusion, supporting young people in developing a confident and healthy mindset, and raising awareness on sustainable practices. The implementation strategy involved a 10-month exchange program, incorporating online activities, Local Thematic Events, and the European Forum. The project moved beyond providing a service to youth, actively encouraging them to design, build, and creatively problem-solve through their projects. The principles guiding the project included openness, inclusivity, voluntarism, adaptability based on participant feedback, and a commitment to positive impacts on local communities and the environment. Furthermore, the project recognized the importance of engaging with decision-makers to amplify the youth's voices and influence the political scene. Through a Panel discussion, a platform was created for youth-led actions with concrete results, the project aimed to transform young people into active participants in democratic and civic life, capable of realising their dreams and contributing to positive change in the world. Following the success of the 2022 Youth Summit 'The Power in Youth,' AYUDH Europe not only expanded its reach to new participants across Europe but also bolstered its organisational team. In 2023, the overarching objective was to sustain this momentum and inspire a growing number of young individuals. This was achieved by offering extensive opportunities for involvement and participation in all facets of the project. AYUDH Europe remained committed to its goal of fostering growth and inspiration by organising coordinated events at various levels—European, national, and local. These events were designed to benefit the participating youth and also to have a positive impact on broader segments of society. The organisation's dedication to inclusivity and empowerment was evident in the seamless execution of these events.
