The main goal of this project was to create a Strategy for young people with disabilities in Šibenik-Knin County. With this document, for the first time, the county gets a framework that addresses the specific needs of young people with disabilities at the local level. Through the activities of the project, it was possible for these young people to actively participate in the creation of the Strategy. The project was designed according to the principle of a "bottom-up" approach, whereby young people participated in all stages, from the creation of the survey questionnaire to the consultations, which served to form the draft of the Strategy. This approach ensured that the topics were in line with their real needs, reducing the risk that the Strategy would not respond to the real challenges that young people with disabilities face in their community. Also, the process of developing the Strategy additionally contributed to the specific goals of the project - through their inclusion, young people with disabilities had the opportunity to strengthen their competences through informal activities, which ultimately encouraged their active participation in social life. Through online communication and project activities, young people with disabilities from Šibenik-Knin County had the opportunity to learn about European issues and how European policies affect the lives of all citizens. This was achieved through survey questionnaires and participation in public consultations. The Strategy itself lays the foundations for building a stimulating environment for young people with disabilities at the local level, covering all cities and municipalities in Šibenik-Knin County. The project also aimed to expand the activities of the Erasmus+ program to areas that were not previously included in such projects, thus contributing to the reduction of inequality between the city of Šibenik and other parts of the county. This project contributes to the additional national priority of the Erasmus+ program and to more equal access to funded activities. The project is especially aimed at young people with disabilities who, unlike their peers without physical or mental disabilities, need more support and care from the community. Achieving the project goals improved the quality of their lives and ensured their full involvement in the community, enabling them to participate in social activities without hindrance.
