The aim of the project was to raise awareness among young people about waste management, one of the biggest challenges of our time. In a consumer society, we are producing more and more waste, and accelerated technological development and the rapid flow of information are encouraging people to buy new products, many of which are becoming out-of-date by design. These then end up as rubbish once they are worn out, and unfortunately the recycling rate is still not adequate. Illegal landfills can still be found in many places, even in the countryside. Not to mention that the manufacture of products also leads to the exploitation of natural resources. In order to change this, it is necessary to educate future generations, to recognise the problem and to find solutions. The most important is to prevent the production of waste. Therefore, we also aimed at collecting good examples and adaptable ideas, through the examples of the participating countries, as waste management is implemented in different ways even within the EU, especially in Ukraine, where it is at a very early stage. We gave young people the opportunity to develop their knowledge of waste management and to see how their own actions can contribute to protecting our environment. We made them realise that small steps matter and that grassroots initiatives are important for the world.
