Our idea for this project was to continue to support young people who are willing to discover their inner desire to connect with others, engage in meaningful ways, and support each other in difficult times in their local communities. One of our main objective was to awake this need in young people, so they can start their individual journey, which most often leads to them creating something meaningful and impactful in their life, which has effect on others, too. When the participants left the previous project, they felt like they were something meaningful, something bigger, and after receiving their feedback, this feeling is still alive in them. This was the biggest boost to create another unforgettable experience for more young people from different places, cooperating with new partners, implementing what worked in the previous project and developing what we thought was needed for the new one. In the second edition of this youth exchange, we again applied a unique, experimental approach, using the symbols and morals of the widely known novel series called Harry Potter. There are plenty of symbols which can be used to show relevant topics in connection with young people’s individual and community life. Our goal was to encourage young people to find and use their talent for themselves and for the welfare of the community. In general, another goal of the project was to boost their self-confidence, which comes from a better understanding about themselves, and to boost their mental health. Apart from these, we wanted to support them to develop their intercultural communication and tolerance, by having an experience about living in an intercultural community, with its own rules, constructed by the participants themselves. We have carefully chose the topics to support their individual and group learning experience, such as: - gaining more knowledge about themselves, what they want to achieve in life and what is blocking them. - raising awareness about certain patterns, habits, that they unconsciously perform - evolving critical thinking about the mass of information that they receive - boosting self-confidence, the real one, which comes from a better understanding about themselves - encouraging to find and use their talent for themselves and for the community - enhancing their capacity to encourage others finding their own way - boosting their mental health - developing intercultural communication and tolerance through learning about inclusion and exclusion - having more experience about living in an intercultural community, with its own rules, constructed by the participants themselves -creating the first steps of supportive and emphatetic communities, where young people feel safe to open up and share their daily struggles -to emphasise the important of mental health from a young age -to promote Erasmus+ and mental health with a widely known fiction such as Harry Potter The main feedback was that the importance of mental health in young peoples lives is much more important than werealized, however most of the young people do not spend time on this topic because of mainly two reasons: -They do not realise that mental health is just as important as physical health (beyond, they are interconnected), therefore they do not have the awareness to dwell on this topic -Youngsters find very little or no space, community or youth center where they feel seen and heard and supported in their own struggles -On the market there are now more and more group coaching/therapy sessions, however because they are very costly it is inaccessible for most of the young people. Our organisation is committed to support young people when it comes to community building, mental health awareness and the creation of a healthy society in general. This goal of ours has been strengthened and supported by the establishment of new partnerships, as well as by the already working cooperations, which led to an even more unique environment and community experience.
