Objectives

We aimed to respond to a more and more pressing mental health issue that is experienced by many young people across the EU and the world in general. These are emotional imbalance, low self-esteem, a lack of confidence, unhappiness, and depression and anxiety—which are also increasingly common mental health issues within young people. These increases can be originated from multiple sources. The modern and complex world, information overdose, social media and digital addiction and its results, coupled with the effects of the COVID-19 crisis also intensified these challenges, impacting well-being, life skills, and social interaction. Through creative, innovative, mindful, and self-expression-related activities we aimed to help the participants to get out of their comfort zone, try something new, and gain self-confidence. We aimed to encourage authenticity and a mindful connection with oneself and within the group, where sharing and expression are safe and supported. By this, we aimed to respond to the fact that if we ostracize ourselves and we are unable to reconnect and express ourselves, can lead us to the suppression of our true selves. Meditation and engaging in arts and diverse activities helps us to align with ourselves, and it promotes a healthier mental state. We aimed to teach youth workers methods that they can use to equip young people with skills and competencies that are neglected in formal education. If these methods and habits are incorporated in everyday life, they can trigger long-lasting positive effects on their lives and communities. Our focus on collaborative art, self-reflection, and self-expression-based activities targeted professional and personal development, preventing mental health issues and promoting a healthy mindset. Our goal was for young people to connect with their true selves, gain self-esteem and confidence in expression, and learn about creative collaboration. By providing youth workers with skills, competencies, tools, methods, and experience, we aimed to catalyze personal and professional development and innovation in youth work. The objectives of this project were: -equip youth workers with activities to encourage authentic self-expression within youth -equip youth workers with tools and methods to foster creativity and creative collaboration within youth -Exchange of experience, good practices, and innovation in youth work focusing on non-formal art, creative collaboration, and a self-expression-centered approach. -Sharing ideas about how arts can contribute to creativity, creative self-expression, mental health, and personal and professional development within youth. -Share, develop, learn, and teach practices that can be adapted for use in youth work, art workshops, schools, homeschooling, online lessons, or independent learning. -to promote lifelong learning and self-development and support the modernization of education by promoting and implementing cooperative non-formal learning by doing activities and promoting the educational programs of the EU -to foster professional development and improvement in youth work -to promote mindfulness and foster the connection with the authentic inner self, contribute to a healthy mental state and prevent mental health issues within youth. -to Gain self-esteem, and self-confidence and encourage young people to step out of their comfort zone and become proactive
