Objectives

The project titled "ÖkoPlusz – Awareness for Everyday Life!” aimed to promote environmental awareness, sustainable lifestyle choices, and social responsibility through the active involvement of young people. Its core intention was to support the personal development of youth, expand their environmental knowledge, and foster community experiences that contribute to a more cohesive and inclusive society. The project’s objectives went beyond simple knowledge transfer—its goal was to engage young people in hands-on, creative activities and shared experiences that would empower them to become advocates for sustainability. One of the key aims of the initiative was to create intergenerational dialogue, ensuring that sustainability becomes a shared responsibility not only among young people but also older generations. Involving elderly participants—as experts, speakers, or audience members—allowed for a meaningful exchange of knowledge and life experiences. The project was designed to ensure that young people weren’t only passive recipients of information but were actively participating in shaping the content and delivery of the activities. The project also prioritized inclusivity and accessibility. Activities took place not only in urban environments but also in rural areas to reduce territorial inequalities. Special emphasis was placed on including youth with special needs, and the organizers worked in cooperation with institutions that serve students requiring special education. They ensured these young people had equal access to the programs, including the necessary accommodations and support. Non-formal learning was a central element of the project. Through festivals and workshop series, participants were engaged in diverse educational activities outside of institutional settings. These included hands-on sessions where participants created natural cleaning products, bird feeders, insect hotels, and artworks made from recycled paper—encouraging environmentally responsible practices through creative, experiential learning. Another significant goal was digital content production. Participants created videos, photos, and social media posts that were shared on platforms. This element of the project supported youth in developing their media literacy, technical skills, and communication abilities, while also amplifying the reach and impact of the sustainability message. The core team behind the project was composed of young people who had previously been active in the H+ Media and Cultural Association’s programs. They formed a community based on shared values and experiences and took on leadership roles in designing and implementing the project. This provided them with opportunities to strengthen their organizational, leadership, and civic engagement skills. The long-term objective was to ensure that the participants could apply the knowledge and competencies they acquired not only in their personal lives but also in their studies and future careers. In essence, the project was a complex educational and community-building initiative. It offered meaningful environmental knowledge, fostered youth engagement, and empowered young people to become active citizens and changemakers. The project contributed to the emergence of a generation that is more conscious, responsible, and committed to building a sustainable future.
