Objectives

The project Heritage, created by the people brought together 6 organizations from Ireland, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Lithuania and Sweden to help young people get to know their cultural heritage, identity and characteristics, make new friends, and gain new skills and knowledge. The project "Heritage, Сreated by the People" was a continuation of the Cultural Diversity project. The participants decided to continue their acquaintance with the cultural heritage of European countries through folk rituals and traditions. This was facilitated by the game with the wedding ceremony, shown by the Bulgarian participants. The Bulgarian team involved all project participants in the ritual. This is how the idea of the Project "Heritage, Created by People" was born in Bulgaria, a country rich in folk traditions. The partners of this project stated the need to promote cultural heritage in their organisations and at the local, regional and national levels through the Erasmus + program. By building a more comprehensive network of partners and young people, the project helped the participants to understand their heritage, while at the same time creating and shaping a common European identity through awareness of the similarities between neighbouring countries, allowing them to embrace their cultural heritage. The project aims to raise awareness among young people about the cultural heritage of their communities. Young people actively developed new skills such as social responsibility, communication, problem-solving, initiative, creativity, planning, teamwork, flexibility, tolerance and acceptance of different cultures. They also learned about the culture and lifestyle of their peers in Europe and immersed themselves in interculturalism. The project "Heritage Created by People" aimed to strengthen the relationship between partner organizations and exchange experiences in working on cultural heritage. This project contributed to the European Cultural Heritage Strategy for the 21st century (CM/Rec(2017)1).
