Objectives

Firstly, the project aimed to nurture international cooperation in environmentally sustainable projects, specifically targeting climate change mitigation and preservation of urban and bio-spaces. Secondly, the project sought to facilitate the exchange of good practices and ideas among partner organisations, enhancing their capacities and enriching their organisational practices. Thirdly, by involving participants from both organisations in all planned activities and reaching over 6,000 individuals with co-created projects and activities, the project aimed to develop participants' skills, promote youth work and environmental awareness, and raise awareness on environmental practices. Additionally, the project aimed to create tangible outputs such as smaller-scale environmental activities, local environmental awareness campaigns, and a future joint project for strategic partnerships. Overall, the objectives were to enhance organisational capacities, broaden international experience, expand target audiences, and establish strategic partnerships, contributing to the broader goals of promoting sustainability and active citizenship.

Background

The decision stemmed from the recognition of common goals and needs shared by both organisations: Complementary expertise: Agora Aveiro and SEEDS possess distinct but complementary expertise in youth engagement, environmental awareness, and sustainable development. By collaborating on this project, both sought to leverage each other's strengths to enhance their own capacities and create a more enriching environment for their staff members and volunteer participants. Expanding target audience: both organisations identified opportunities to expand their target audience and reach through transnational cooperation. Agora Aveiro, primarily focused on the local youth community in Portugal, saw an opportunity to broaden its international scope and engage with a wider audience. Meanwhile, SEEDS, experienced in working with international volunteers, sought to enhance its engagement with local youth in Iceland and abroad. Strategic partnerships: Both organisations viewed this project as a means to establish a solid partnership and lay the groundwork for future collaborations. By working closely together, they aimed to develop joint projects and initiatives that would have a greater impact on local and international communities.
