Objectives

The Project "Grey2Green - Towards a Green Sustainable Future" was a Youth Exchange promoted by the Italian Association Villafranca Giovane as an opportunity to discuss on Circular Economy, environmental protection as a positive message to convey between young people. Grey2Green project was configured as an initiative aimed at promoting the implementation of awareness raising actions on sustainability and proper waste management during the project activities. The emphasis was therefore on preventing the production of waste and, each action showed how every actor in society can, in a creative way, contribute to reducing waste personally and to communicate this message of action to others. During the exchange activities, participants asked to reflect and experience the values considered to be founding in the EU: democracy, inclusion and multiculturalism, the fight against any form of discrimination. The objectives pursued, in line with the annual and permanent priorities of the Erasmus + Program were: - Raise awareness among young people to develop a basic culture of sustainable development to facilitate socially responsible behaviour towards the environment as a naturalistic and anthropological heritage, while promoting its protection and requalification in the event of degradation. - Promote the concepts of reuse and recycling to the younger generations, who often fail to conceive this vision of reuse due to their existence in a consumerist era, having resources available that exceed their needs, sometimes they consider them inexhaustible. Raise awareness of the problem of the shortage of natural resources and the sudden lack of these resources. - Reflect on how much everyone's actions affect the surrounding environment. Participate in their own ecological initiatives and share beliefs and knowledge by correcting, if necessary, not correct behaviour. - Develop cooperation between participants belonging to ethnic groups who face different daily realities, to allow young people to assume attitudes respectful of each other, in a perspective of intercultural dialogue, in full respect for the habits and customs of others, stimulating solidarity, mutual respect and collaboration overcoming stereotypes and prejudices. - Propose informal and non-formal learning possibilities with a European dimension and create innovative initiatives in the field of active citizenship. - Promote European youth mobility and support participation in Volunteer programs also in the environmental field, through the Erasmus Plus Program and its actions.
