Objectives

With the implementation of this project, we wanted to help participants discover the importance of traditional professions and products directly linked to their communities and use them as an alternative for tackling the very high European rate of youth unemployment by creating their own enterprises. Moreover, through this project, we wanted to cultivate and empower a sense of acceptance, inclusiveness, open-mindedness, and solidarity in young people towards different nationalities, religions, and socio-economic groups. By raising awareness about this issue, we helped young people to become more empathetic, more confident, and self-esteemed, be actively involved at a local level, make a difference in their communities and empower them, and learn how to be innovative, creative, and learn how to create opportunities for themselves when it seems that there is nothing to be done or no potential existing. In addition, we aimed through this project to contribute and correspond to one of the set priorities of Erasmus+ Programme and European Commission for young people, which is “Inclusion and Diversity” and the provision of equal opportunities for the educational, professional, and personal development of youth through non-formal and informal education. We managed to achieve that through 1) including young people with social/ educational/ economic, and geographical obstacles, 2) promoting the learning mobility of individuals and groups, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion and equality, excellence, creativity, and innovation at the level of organizations and policies in the field of education and training, 3) promoting non-formal and informal learning mobility and the active participation of youth, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity, and innovation. The objectives of our project were: - to acquire knowledge about oranges, traditions, and professions related to orange products of the participating countries. - to learn about agriculture and homemade products, experience the process first-hand, and interact with local entrepreneurs; discover how tradition can be converted to innovative ideas for tackling unemployment and supporting rural areas (and especially rural Youth). - to promote entrepreneurship and creativity in transforming orange traditions into modern ways of employment, improving the skills and employability potential of the participants. - to promote social inclusion, involving young people with fewer opportunities in our group - to empower participants’ well-being by understanding the advantages and health benefits of living in rural areas. - to establish lifelong connections between participants and create partnerships and new sustainable Erasmus+ projects, respecting the environment. - to involve actively the local community by sharing their experience with young people - to encourage social inclusion through agricultural practices. - to increase understanding and intercultural communication among EU citizens. Through our project we offered to participants a safe learning environment and space where they could express themselves without fear, share ideas and points of view, learn from each other, and together find out the best ways to combat youth unemployment through the means that their local realities have to offer. For achieving all these, we used interactive tools and methods of non-formal education such as teamwork, brainstorming, study visits, role plays, debates, simulations, reflection, and evaluation. Having in the project participants from EU and non-EU countries helped them to respect cultural diversity and foster mutual understanding between people from different countries, to be open-minded, tolerant, and empathetic and at the same time allowed us to have a broad share of learning experiences and realities. In addition, they became more resilient to life’s difficulties and strong and motivated enough to be actively involved in their local communities. What we can confirm is that to make a difference in our society, we need to empower our youngsters and also empower the cooperation among organizations and take the lead, and this is what we did through the implementation of this project.
