We are living in a world where the most important resource to sustain life in all its forms is rapidly declining. The state of our water resources is a global concern, especially in a world where issues like climate change and population overgrowth, increased consumption of resources for agricultural and industrial purposes, as well as pollution have proven to be persistent challenges. If we look beyond Europe, which might still be foreign to this reality, and consider the situation in other countries such as Africa, the consequences of water scarcity are glaringly obvious. In such countries, drought meets extreme poverty or even generates it. Migrations due to climate issues are not uncommon, and water grabbing is a real issue that just exacerbates the problem. All of this, and more, leads to challenging living conditions in these parts of the world. If we don't take action soon, many parts of the world will turn into deserts. Young people typically feel the weight of environmental issues a lot more compared to others. This is why it's crucial to mobilize our European youth and youth from neighboring countries to promote sustainable practices and raise awareness about these challenges. Therefore, the project “Green up!” aims to spread sustainability practices among youth in order to learn how to reconnect with nature and limit water waste. In order to achieve this aim, we will address the following specific objectives: O1: Involve and empower young people to take part in resolving regional and international environmental issues. O2: Evaluate the realities of resource deployment in the Euro-Mediterranean region, identifying causes and global effects. O3: Recognize the effects of indiscriminate resource consumption on climate change and our environment, and raise awareness, encouraging group reflection on the ecological issue on a Euro-Mediterranean scale. O4: Provide a space for the development and exchange of concepts and methods for environmental activism and help participants' communities become more resilient. O5: Inspire young people to create and spread sustainable practices among their peers and communities.
