Objectives

The "GROW - Genesis and Roots of the World" project successfully achieved its set objectives, demonstrating the effectiveness of the activities carried out and the positive impact on the local community and participants. 1. PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS: Through theatrical activities and experiences in nature, participants were sensitized to environmental issues, gaining a deep understanding of ongoing climate changes through documentation and information sharing. Knowledge was shared among participants to implement solutions in our daily lives (e.g., consumption habits and human behavior) and regarding the goals each country should implement (e.g., Agenda 2030). The presentation of the final performance provided an artistic and creative perspective on crucial issues like climate change, sparking deep reflections on environmental issues in both project participants and the local community. The local community enthusiastically witnessed the final performance and activities throughout the exchange. 2. ENCOURAGING INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE: Group activities, creative workshops, and the sharing of cultural traditions fostered open dialogue and harmonious integration among participants. Intercultural bonds strengthened, contributing to greater mutual understanding. For example, during a creative workshop, participants worked together to create stage sets integrating distinctive cultural elements from each involved country. 3. FOSTERING PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ARTISTIC SKILLS: Participants experienced significant personal growth, developing artistic skills through theater exploration and creative collaboration. The final performance was praised for its originality and emotional depth. For instance, during theater rehearsals, participants faced creative challenges, overcoming personal fears, and building increased self-confidence. 4. ENGAGING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY: During the exchange, participants inhabited the ancient village of Melissa (whose winter residents number around 200), playing a crucial role in animating and actively engaging the local community. The parade and theatrical performance sparked lively interest, fostering valuable dialogue within the community, primarily inhabited by the elderly. This facilitated discussion between ancient and rural environmental habits, often characterized by greater sustainability, and modern, more polluting practices. The event highlighted the significant continuity and the importance of rediscovering traditional approaches that can be more harmonious with the environment than certain contemporary practices. Activities in nature and within the village added vitality to the location, creating a bridge between the Erasmus project and the local reality. The redevelopment of abandoned spaces was a key element of connection with the community, even though active participation of the local community in these activities was not initially considered in the project (except for the 5 Italian youths involved). However, thanks to the contagious enthusiasm of the Erasmus participants, the community self-proclaimed to actively participate. The active collaboration between residents (of all ages!) and participants, during activities such as waste collection, decorating streets with ornamental plants, and requalifying a play area, led to a tangible and positive transformation of shared spaces. Direct interaction and collaboration between participants and the local community enriched the project's meaning, promoting not only environmental awareness but also a sense of belonging and active participation in community and city life. 5. CONTRIBUTING TO TERRITORIAL REQUALIFICATION: Through requalification actions and creative use of natural spaces, the project contributed to enhancing the appearance of the territory. Participants learned the importance of balance between human intervention and the natural environment. For example, during requalification activities, participants worked on creating artistic installations integrating recycled materials, promoting a visual message of sustainability. The project successfully surpassed the set objectives, leaving a lasting impact on both participants and the local community. The artistic and educational experience achieved its purpose of stimulating reflection on crucial issues while promoting collaboration, creativity, and environmental awareness.
