Objectives

Over the last few years, the EU had become increasingly multiethnic and intercultural and had distinguished itself as the most welcoming territory for foreigners. However, the policies and interventions implemented over the years had highlighted the presence of many young foreign mothers, NEETs, lonely and abandoned, who were in need of gradual and lasting social inclusion interventions at the local level. The challenge lay in the range of welfare services provided and the concrete and effective responses.

Background

The objective of the project was to counter the (self-)isolation of young foreign mothers by promoting their gradual and long-term integration into society through language-digital literacy and gender EMPOWERMENT pathways. The project was created to address and/or prevent various contradictions and situations of social hardship arising from the presence of foreign women in Italy, Spain, France, North Macedonia, and Turkey. It aimed to implement a (re)design of educational and interactive services in a co-participatory and integrated way, necessarily involving non-formal education led by social experts working in synergy with youth workers designated in each partner country. The partnership believed that integration could only be achieved through targeted training actions, with a focus on valuing differences, promoting social inclusion, ensuring equal opportunities, and implementing positive actions designed to channel every possible resource, skill, and ability. These efforts were intended both to combat irreversible regressive paths and to prevent social conflict or deviance that could result in serious issues of coexistence and social safety.
