Objectives

The primary aim of the project is the specific training through artistic methodologies of a mixed group of young professionals and young people with a migrant background from 4 Southern European countries (Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy) aimed at acquiring basic skills in welcoming and activating integration/inclusion processes between native young people and young people with a migrant background. The second objective is the sharing of good welcoming practices among the partners located in Southern Europe in the Mediterranean area, areas affected by the arrival of migratory flows. The second objective is the specific training of 21 young youth workers from the partnership organizations through creative and artistic methodologies and the networking of organizations that operate locally and at European level for the strengthening of an inclusive social transformation of their communities. The long-term objective was to contribute to the construction of an inclusive Europe, which makes diversity an element of wealth, through a partnership committed to building welcoming communities, with particular attention to young people with fewer opportunities

Background

We have presented this project to respond to the lack of inclusive and intercultural approaches in youth work with young people with migrant backgrounds in the Mediterranean territories involved: Portugal, Spain, Greece. In fact, all the partner organizations operate in Mediterranean regions characterized by strong migratory flows and social inequalities. The need for inclusive, creative and community-based strategies has clearly emerged, especially among young people with fewer opportunities. The project responds to the need to create shared spaces for training and reflection between youth workers, volunteers and social operators to co-create tools for local inclusion through artistic languages. Furthermore, it responds to the need of small organizations to enter or strengthen their presence in the Erasmus+ program and collaborate transnationally on common challenges.
