The Bullone.EU project aimed to achieve key objectives in social inclusion and the development of digital skills through social journalism. The main goal was to promote inclusion and diversity among young people, particularly those in vulnerable situations or affected by serious illnesses, by providing them with tools for expression and personal growth. Specific objectives included training in digital tools and digital storytelling for young people and youth workers, through the exchange of skills with storytelling experts, such as the Swedish partner Traces&Dreams. The project also aimed to export the Il Bullone methodology on a transnational level by creating a digital platform (Bullone.EU) to connect unheard voices across Europe. Finally, the project established a European network of stakeholders, laying the groundwork for future cooperation projects in social journalism, contributing to the Erasmus+ priority of enhancing digital skills and improving the work of youth workers.
We applied for the Bullone.EU project to address the need to promote the inclusion and empowerment of young people with serious and chronic illnesses, recognizing the importance of a European and transnational dimension. In the context of the European Union, it is crucial that young people from different countries have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with each other, as this helps break down cultural and linguistic barriers, fostering the building of an inclusive European citizenship. Interaction with peers from other countries enriches their experiences, promoting mutual understanding and strengthening the sense of belonging to a European community. Moreover, the development of digital skills, a key priority in European policies, is essential to prepare young people for the challenges of the modern labor market and social life. The project aimed to use social journalism as a tool for personal expression and growth, creating a platform (landing page) where young people could share their stories, connect, and develop digital skills. Social journalism has enabled these young people to express their voices, providing them with coping mechanisms and enhancing their self-esteem and social awareness.
