Objectives

The project aimed at increasing young people's active participation in the EU elections by developing participatory tools and methodologies based on NFE that empowered young people to become Youth Engagers or Youth Reporters in their local communities.

Background

The project addressed the challenge of low youth engagement in decision-making and democratic processes, particularly with the 2024 EU Parliament elections in mind. It aimed to create opportunities for young people to participate and understand EU institutions through both local and digital activities. By focusing on enhancing media literacy, combating misinformation, and empowering young people as informed reporters, the project tackled issues like inadequate youth representation in media and politics, ineffective engagement practices, and gaps in youth organizations' capabilities. The project has been successful in fostering collaboration among young people, youth organizations, and public institutions, creating a platform to share visions and develop tools for increased youth involvement. This approach ultimately helped shape the EU to be more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to future generations.
