Objectives

The main objective of the youth exchange "Lost Tribes Re-connected" was to connect young people, who are part of the cultural minority of the Walser. Since there have been two Walser Youth Exchanges with Erasmus+ before, our main goal was to support the young people in keeping touch and also allow new participants to get in contact. The project brought youngsters from three small mountain communities in three different countries together, namely Austria, Italy and Liechtenstein. With connecting the young people we wanted to generate a common sense of belonging in order to strenghten the participaating youngsters, making them feel less isolated and more connected within an enlarged European community. The specific objectives of this project can be summarised as follows: - approach the young participants to their cultural roots; - critically explore the meaning, the relevance and the implications which the rediscovery of the cultural roots can have for the young generation; in all its dimensions of intercultural learning; - show new ways to overcome obstacles that young people of the Walser cultural minority face in their integration in Europe (financial, ethical, social, cultural obstacles) by means of the arts and outdoor learning activities which can be applied for free time or work activities; - present and re-evaluate known and not so well-known craft professions; and help young people analyse their potential in terms of youth entrepreneurship opportunities; - help the young people see the connections between European Citizenship, European culture, sustainable development, youth employability and the underlying values; - increase the participants' self-confidence and manual skills by introducing new learning methods such as "Do it yourself" workshops; - offer the participants occasions to test their creativity - show the vision and interpretation of the popular traditions by the young people by means of a presentation at the end
