The total Ecological Footprints of the production of most European countries is higher than their domestic supplies of biocapacity. For this reason, the EU fight climate change through ambitious policies and close cooperation with international partners. As a result, the European Green Deal is a high priority. It needed to be critically understood by young people, communities, and organizations to participate in climate action. Environmental disasters were a common problem, and there was a desire to raise awareness about the European Green Deal in local communities. The solutions outlined in the European Green Deal can only succeed if people, communities, and organizations were all involved and took action. For this reason, the decision was made to carry out the "We Deal in Green" project to work and learn together, develop solutions, and build networks for contribution. In this aspect, the project's main aim was to develop 30 participants' knowledge and awareness about the European Green Deal, as well as ecological footprint and sustainability, to encourage them to be active in their local communities in terms of climate change. The overall project objectives were as follows: - To raise awareness of the European Green Deal, environmental protection, sustainability, and ecological footprint among youth. - To show the youngsters that with the lifestyle they lived, a significant part of the planet was needed to provide them with food, energy, fuel, etc. - To make them realize that everybody could do something to slow down climate change and protect the environment. - To show them how to live consciously and green in harmony with nature. - To promote a green and sustainable way of life among youth and the local community. Through this project, the aim was to raise awareness of the European Green Deal in local communities, equip young people with knowledge about climate change and environmental protection, and involve young people while showing them that they could have a real impact on contemporary social issues. During the exchange, participants were equipped with tools that would help them achieve this goal. The final outcome of the project was media campaigns and outcomes to raise their voice and be heard by participants' local communities. The project aimed to make a strong impact on the partner organizations and participants who would acquire new skills through non-formal education, realize the importance of good environmental practices and environmental education, and raise awareness among the local community members through their actions. The project was aligned with the objectives of the EU climate strategy in climate change and sustainability. The Commission’s proposal to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 set Europe on a responsible path to becoming climate neutral by 2050.
