The pandemic and war put the well-being of an entire generation at risk. Unexpected life-threatening events, conflicts, and wars had immense consequences on mental health and well-being, especially in children and young people in the EU. Eurostat stated that since the beginning of 2021, there were negative changes among young people, such as fueling negative stereotypes and dangerous tensions due to disinformation, suicidal attempts and self-harm, worrying about future insecurity, lack of body movement and energy, sleep or eating disorders, video games and online gambling addictions, increased use of tobacco, and/or alcohol and other substances. The prevention of risky behaviors was an important need in our work with young people, and it was relevant to approach it and know how to help young people and prevent them. Considering the facts mentioned above, we analyzed the needs of youth in our network together with partner organizations and decided to carry out this project as a response to youth needs that came alongside the current social crisis. Our project aimed to empower mental health and prevent depression among young people to be more resilient and powerful towards current crises, also to better understand the European Youth Goals among youngsters. Our objectives were: • To enable our participants to discover the positive impact of mindfulness, meditation, physical activation, and nature-based activities. • To promote physical activation and a healthy lifestyle among young people to avoid bad habits. • To enable young people to detect disinformation and fake news to get rid of toxic impact. • To raise awareness and knowledge regarding the EU Youth Strategy: European Youth Goals 2019-2027. We expected our project outcomes to encourage young people in our local communities to be more resilient towards wars, natural disasters, migrations, epidemics, economic crises, and so on. To do this, our project activities focused on promoting physical activation, a healthy lifestyle, avoiding disinformation, and self-compassion; compatible with the EU Youth Strategies 21-27 (Mental Health and Well-being, promoting mental and health, sport, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles, preventing and treating injury, eating disorders, addictions, and substance abuse).
