Objectives

Our project idea was shaped after our analyzes with partners and some of participants to realize that disinformation, fake news, and access to reliable information is significant concerns for the European Union. Consequently, this issue was also a focal point of Youth Goals. Manipulative online initiatives infiltrated our everyday lives in partner countries, inundating us with fake news. Young people are particularly vulnerable to these threats due to their heavy immersion in digital technologies and the challenging task of distinguishing truth from falsehood. Therefore, a decision was made to undertake a project aimed at gaining deeper insights into young people's ability to recognize online disinformation. The objectives were set to address these needs by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of 38 participants and 6 leaders in critical thinking to identify misinformation in the online environment. The aim was to equip these participants with the tools to investigate the sources of information in the media space, thus raising awareness about fake news, manipulation, and propaganda in online media. Through this project, the goal was to contribute to the prevention of radicalization, racism, hate speech, violence, panic, and manipulation in online media within partner organizations' communities.
