Objectives

Over the past decades online media and digital tools revolutionized the world, becoming an inseparable part of most of people’s activities. The ‘e-world’ is fast becoming a new dimension of ‘living’ and doing business, with millions of companies, institutions, organizations and other entities turning ‘e’ (e-services, e-sales, e-healthcare, e-governance, etc.). European Commission is also turning to the digital world with the Digital Agenda for Europe for delivering social and economic benefits, as well as Erasmus+ priority of exploring the use of digital tools & outreach in youth work. Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic where many of practitioners were caught off guard with the need of quickly and efficiently changing the way they work via digital youth work approaches. Digital youth work, digital outreach, work with social media and promotion, building a sustainable and positive image online are becoming areas that require youth workers and youth leaders to become competent in. Digitalization already affected delivery of educational activities in the all of the fields (MOOCs, webinars, peer-2-peer online learning, learning worlds). The change also affected the way many youth organization operate, attract young people, communicate or promote their services. In order to stay visible and up-to-date, it is necessary to ensure that media and digital tools are skillfully used in day-to-day management of youth organizations. And with the vast variety it is not so easy to choose which tools to use. With tens of new apps and tools coming every year we find it relevant to update youth workers and enlarge their digital toolboxes. Using the abovementioned information as base for our need-assessment with youth organizations in Europe we contacted the network of partners to discuss the topic and understand whether their needs are similar. We were curious to learn how and if they tend to use media in their everyday work, what aspects of digital technologies they find most useful or, in turn, most tricky to apply, how skilled and prepared they feel to ‘reach youth’ demonstrating significant presence online. As a result of the discussion and our research the training course was developed through cooperation amongst partners and trainers. Needs: - Need for development of youth workers/ youth leaders; - Need for development of new innovative approaches in the digital era; - Need for adjusting our online presence and operation to fit modern young people; DIGIBOX 3.0 AIMED to promote the use of digital tools and new media channels to increase operational capacity and effectiveness of youth organizations in the digital era. Objectives: - to discuss the current use of digital tools by organizations and analyze their potential to grow; - to critically look at the threats and opportunities of online media as a discussion forum; - raising awareness of how digital tools and new media can aid youth work and help to create greater impact of present day youth activities; - to develop competences of participants to become effective and versatile users of available digital tools; - to create space for effective transfer of know-how in regards to media literacy and digitalization across Europe; - to exchange tools, methods, ideas in the use of modern technologies across youth organizations in Europe; - to foster European cooperation in the youth field and support the development of new innovative solutions for new generations of digitalized youth organizations; - to update & spread a user-friendly collection of digital tools and promote it amongst youth organizations across Europe; In the past years, MUYA has been actively been involved in the local community, with a variety of projects, both funded by Erasmus+ funds and also elsewhere. We pride in what we are achieving as a small organization which functions voluntarily in the committee’s free time and the European Commission has lately also chosen a multitude of our projects as a “Good Practice Projects”. However, statistically, MUYA has seen a drop in new memberships throughout the years. We are getting a sufficient amount of applications for Erasmus+ Mobilities (through our vast local network and participant selection protocols), but no involvement thereafter. From further work in the past year, we decided that for MUYA the project is very relevant since after the last implemented KA153 Project, Get Across, we identified a large gap in our digital tool box. Therefore, with our partners we defined the need and execution plan for DIGIBOX.
