Objectives

The main goal of the "Integration and Social Inclusion Through Sport" youth exchange was to bring together young people from different backgrounds, help them understand each other's cultures, and promote their physical and mental well-being. We wanted to gather 35 participants from five countries: the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Sweden, and Portugal. This mix was chosen to ensure a diverse group, making the intercultural exchange rich and educational. We aimed for specific results, including: 1. Active Participation in Sports: Encouraging everyone to join in various sports activities, using the unique skills and experiences of the group, like a Latin dance coach, a yoga coach, and experienced football and basketball players. 2. Intercultural Learning: Creating a deep cultural exchange through interactive sessions and intercultural evenings, where participants could share and celebrate their cultural heritage, fostering mutual respect and understanding. 3. Skill Development and Awareness: Teaching participants about the Erasmus+ Programme and its opportunities while developing key skills like teamwork, leadership, and communication through non-formal education methods. 4. Health and Well-being: Promoting a healthy lifestyle by integrating physical activity into daily routines and highlighting the importance of mental well-being through activities like ecstatic dance. Our project's goals were aimed at both personal and community development: 1. Promote Fairness and Inclusion: Ensuring equal access and participation for young people, especially those with immigrant or refugee backgrounds, and reducing prejudice and cultural barriers. 2. Use Sport as a Tool for Social Cohesion: Showing how sport can unite people from different backgrounds, promoting values of solidarity, tolerance, and inclusion. 3. Encourage Healthy and Sustainable Living: Educating and motivating participants about eco-friendly sports practices and sustainable living techniques. 4. Foster Active Participation and Physical Well-being: Providing plenty of opportunities for sports and physical activity, encouraging participants to adopt these practices for their physical and mental health benefits. 5. Enhance Knowledge of Erasmus+ Opportunities: Raising awareness among participants, especially those less familiar with the program, about the opportunities available through Erasmus+ for youth mobility and learning. By setting these goals, we aimed to create a comprehensive and enriching experience that not only met the immediate needs of the participants but also equipped them with knowledge, skills, and attitudes they could use in their communities and future endeavours.
