Objectives

The main objective of Queer Ambassadors was to empower youth workers and their organizations to counter discrimination and unconscious bias within their communities towards queer individuals. This overarching objective was delineated into specific goals: 1. Familiarize participants with various forms of discrimination and prejudice faced by members of the queer community, including underlying biases. Provide participants with tools and techniques to deconstruct stereotypes effectively. 2. Instruct participants in the fundamentals of (self)advocacy, encompassing persuasive, non-violent, and mediating communication tactics. Equip them with methods applicable to their future activities. 3. Enhance participants' capacity to develop and implement (more professional) activities and projects in the domain of queer activism and with/for the youth in their local communities. Provide advanced training in project management, stakeholder engagement, and leadership competences. 4. Introduce participants to successful initiatives promoting inclusion, specifically focusing on queer communities. Guide them in developing their own initiatives for implementation within their communities. 5. Foster collaboration among participating organizations and external stakeholders involved in the project. Contribute to each other's professional development through strengthened cooperation. 6. Encourage participants, participating organizations, and other youth work organizations to strengthen their policies for the inclusion of queer individuals. Equip them with competences to implement more (effective) activities that promote inclusion of LGBTQI+/ Queer people.
