Objectives

The project achieved various goals based on the positive experiences of a bunch of young folks from Poland and Spain during a previous Youth Exchange project. They got the idea from their past youth exchange that used art to help participants deal with problems like discrimination and confidence issues. The project aimed to explore the topic of tolerance, non-discrimination, multiculturalism, and equal opportunities in the European cultural scene. Participants who worked on the application noticed a gap between city and small-town youth, where discrimination against disabled people, the LGBT community, and minorities was tougher to handle. Participants of the project understand and overcome exclusion based on various factors like social and ethnic backgrounds, economic situations, disabilities, and different sexual orientations. The project aimed to give participants a chance to learn from each other, highlighting multiculturalism. The project had specific goals, such as making 48 participants aware of their personal and cultural identities, recognizing prejudice and discrimination, developing empathy, critical thinking, and communication skills, encouraging participants to act against discrimination. In the end, the project aimed to create a safe space for participants from eight countries to work together, figuring out and tackling prejudices and stereotypes in their communities. The planned art performances were supposed to be a chance to learn about tolerance, conflict resolution, and positive behavior in multi-ethnic and multicultural settings. By having participants with different backgrounds, we created a safe learning environment and a unique opportunity for everyone to share ideas and learn from others' experiences to figure out the best ways to fight exclusion. The presented art performance provided participants with opportunities to learn how to be tolerant of others and how to behave in conflict situations in multi-ethnic/multicultural communities. The project had the following objectives: • to make the 48 participants aware of their personal and cultural identity; • to make the 48 participants recognize prejudice and all forms of discrimination; • to develop empathy, critical thinking, and communication skills of the 48 youngsters; • to make the 48 participants develop actions that fight discrimination; • to enable the 48 participants to use art as a tool for education, communication, and affirmation.
