Objectives

We are currently experiencing a crisis of social skills among young people, in which the ability to conduct a conversation and the culture of dialogue itself come to the fore - less in terms of understanding the language or vocabulary, and more in terms of the lack of motivation to seek compromise, easily falling into extreme attitudes and incompetence in arguing one's own views. The reasons for this state of affairs are, at least partially, related to the pandemic and repeated periods of distance learning and lockdowns. Hence the idea of basing our project on practical dialogue and having a positive impact in this area through its implementation. The main goal of our project was to improve communication and cooperation competences among young people. We wanted to achieve it through the practical use of various forms of dialogue - Oxford debates, videoconferencing, discussions, body language exercises and non-verbal communication. On the way to the main goal of the project, we also set ourselves a number of specific goals: - Specific Objective No. 1 - improving the practical culture of expression - by stimulating the willingness to seek compromise, promoting tolerance of different opinions, practicing arguing one's own views. - Specific Objective No. 2 - promoting dialogue as a conflict resolution tool - in the form of an Oxford debate or discussion, but above all as an attitude of openness to talking to other people and listening to their reasons. - Specific Objective No. 3 - development of soft skills - those social competences that suffered the most during the pandemic-related isolation and which can only be developed in contact with peers. In addition, the activities carried out as part of our project also intensively used ICT tools, which was consistent with the preferences expressed by the students in the survey (interest in IT) and was an extremely valuable skill nowadays - both at school and later on the labor market.
