Objectives

The primary goal of the project is to address the challenges and misconceptions surrounding migration, particularly in Europe. The world is currently experiencing the greatest era of human mobility, with over 3000 million migrants, a number that continues to rise. Migration is recognized as a key feature of the contemporary world, providing opportunities but also posing significant challenges in areas such as safe migration, border management, displacement, and integration. The project emerged in response to the New European Crisis on Migration, fueled by an increasing number of refugees and migrants seeking asylum in the European Union. This influx, particularly across the Mediterranean Sea and Southeast Europe, has led to concerns and negative perceptions, often linking migrants to violent extremism without evidence. This has resulted in a detrimental public image, fostering fear, prejudice, xenophobia, and discrimination, all of which are contrary to the values of the EU. Motivated by the need for change and recognizing the importance of raising awareness, we decided to develop the project. Drawing inspiration from the participation in previous Youth Exchanges and local activities on migration, brain drain, and intercultural learning, we identified the value of involving young people in addressing these issues. The project focuses on utilizing art forms such as Theater (performative), Painting/Drawing (visual), and Video Making (digital) as powerful tools for expression and communication. The project's main aim is to raise young people's awareness and understanding of the migration crisis in Europe. It seeks to offer opportunities for them to create networks, develop a sense of European citizenship, and embrace values through non-formal learning and youth cooperation. The objectives include fostering positive interaction, personal growth, and self-reflection among young people from diverse social backgrounds within the EU. Additionally, the project aims to promote positive attitudes towards arts and encourage creativity, while raising awareness about migration challenges through artistic products such as a Theater play, an exhibition, and a video. The broader goals encompass promoting diversity, intercultural dialogue, and social inclusion within the EU. Furthermore, the project strives to highlight the Erasmus+ program, EU values, and participation in future activities, using non-formal education and the YouthPass certificate for recognition. Ultimately, the project endeavors to break the cycle of fear, prejudice, xenophobia, and discrimination towards migrants by engaging young people in activities that stimulate awareness, understanding, and positive social change. The original objectives were set as: The main aim is: - To raise young people's awareness/understanding on migration crisis in Europe, offering the opportunity to create strong networks and develop a sense of European citizenship and values, thereby promoting non-formal learning and cooperation in the field of youth. The objectives are: -To foster positive interaction, active participation, self-reflection and personal growth of young people from different social backgrounds of EU by involving them in Youth Exchange that develop their key competences and address issues relevant for them, conducting joint vicarious activities, with holistic experiences and reflections. -To develop positive attitudes towards arts and its expressions, encouraging experimentation and involvement, stimulating creativity and imagination. -To raise awareness on migration panorama and its difficulties within participants’ societies and within EU using artistic products on the youth exchange: Theater play, an exhibition and a video on migration. -To promote diversity, intercultural dialogue and intercultural learning, developing the sense of unity through diversity within EU, thereby promoting social inclusion -To promote the Erasmus+ programme, EU values and participation in future activities through the use of non-formal education while promoting its recognition through the YouthPass certificate.
