Objectives

The core idea was to leverage alternative photography as a transformative tool for social change. By focusing on upcycling waste into photo cameras and incorporating pinhole photography, cyanotype processes, and digital methods, the project aimed to provide youth workers with unique skills applicable in their daily work. The specific objectives encompassed: 1. Upcycling photography skills: Equip 30 youth workers with the knowledge and skills to upcycle trash into functional photo cameras during a 8-day training course. 2. Integration of analog and digital techniques: facilitate learning in connecting analogue and alternative photography processes with digital methods, embedding these skills within the context of youth work. 3. Digital exhibition creation: foster a collaborative environment where participants create artworks, leading to the development of a digital exhibition showcasing their creative outputs at the end of the activity. 4. Workshops for social impact: empower youth workers to plan and deliver workshops in their home countries or organizations, targeting 100-150 young individuals. The workshops specifically addressed the social dimension of photography. 5. Toolkit publication: compile and publish a comprehensive toolkit, including working materials, summarizing the results of the training and workshops held by each country's groups. This toolkit aimed to serve as a resource for future initiatives and youth work practices. 6. Innovative workshop development: pursue the development of an innovative workshop named "Rehearsal for Change”, connecting pinhole photography, photovoice research, and theatre of the oppressed in an international scope. The overarching objective was not only to impart technical skills but also to instill a sense of empowerment, ecological and intercultural awareness, and active citizenship among youth workers. The project aimed to create a ripple effect by encouraging the dissemination of acquired skills and knowledge within their communities, thus contributing to positive social change.
