Objectives

The 'Business Plan(et)' project aimed to improve the entrepreneurial skills and creativity of youth workers by raising awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development practices and providing them with the necessary basis for development in this area in the form of knowledge theoretical and practical training. Climate change, desertification, environmental pollution, the generation of large amounts of non-degradable waste, global warming, ocean acidification, biodiversity loss, deforestation, ozone depletion and others are just some of the many problems related to the environment and the Sustainable Development Goals in general, with that we are dealing with on a global scale. In view of the low visibility of educational activities in this field at the government level, international initiatives for youth turn out to be an effective alternative. Examples can be found all over the world and, thanks to Erasmus+, in particular in Europe. Therefore, the project “Business Plan(et)” has become another important point in the development of European youth who are actively involved in changing the problems of the continent. Despite all the actions taken at EU level, such as the 'Green Deal', we felt that more creative initiatives were needed at national and NGO level. These organizations are particularly important as they try to solve problems from the individual level down to the education of whole groups. They deal with both educating individuals and raising awareness of larger collectives, such as local communities and enterprises. The project has increased the ability of youth workers to understand environmental issues, develop business ideas and create startups that can tackle sustainability threats. One of the main assumptions of the project was to show young entrepreneurs that actions for protection environment do not involve losses, on the contrary - they can go hand in hand with the development of private enterprises and increasing profits. The goals of the project that we managed to achieve are: - raising environmental awareness among youth workers worldwide, with particular focus on Europe and its countries; - raising participants' awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and the role of youth work in their implementation; - supporting and improving entrepreneurial and creative skills of people working with youth; - increasing participants' ability to develop business and startup ideas that are environmentally friendly and serve sustainable environmental goals; - addressing the most pressing environmental issues in Europe and participating countries; - providing participants with examples of sustainable environmental activities carried out by young people as role models; - gain specific knowledge on creating a business plan, designing a small private business, marketing plan, pitching skills and all the needs of starting your own business; - creating 6 different business ideas that solve environmental problems and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals; - inspiring young people to introduce changes in activities for environmental protection through initiative and entrepreneurship; - increasing the ability of participants, including people working with youth on a daily basis, to share the knowledge gained in the project; - raising awareness of the opportunities offered by the EU, Erasmus+ and youth work, for and with young people in Europe; - the opportunity to become an ambassador of changes for environmental protection in the local communities from which the participants come. During the project, methods in the field of informal and non-formal education, developed mainly by our members, were implemented. In this way, we expanded the range of skills that participants can acquire, e.g. areas such as: creativity, entrepreneurship, planning, project management, team management, teamwork in general, presentation and pitching skills, or digital and multimedia competences.
