Objectives

Social enterprises are considered to be the best way to include people with fewer opportunities to society by giving them the chance to earn money and be independent, while raising their self-esteem. Our experience with young people shows that they still do not completely understand the right way to use this form of business as a tool for making changes in their communities. Nowadays, when the EU is facing serious challenges in terms of social exclusion, unemployment and demographic change, social enterprises play a significant role in strengthening people’s prospects in both society and the labour market. This project aimed to raise a new generation of youth workers, who are able to use social entrepreneurship as a sustainable model for their activities. We invited participants to skip the trying-and-failing method many social entrepreneurs took and instead join us on a journey of hard and soft skills needed to run a successful business with social impact. While many countries are facing big unemployment (and it is getting worse due to the post-coronavirus era), especially amongst the youth, we offered these competencies to help fight this problem. We strongly believe in the idea of social entrepreneurship - making a social impact and changing the world for the better by using business strategies. It is one of the best ways to be an active part of the society and contribute to positive change as well as earn money and be sustainable and proactive. In “SErious business” Erasmus+ project, we shared our practical knowledge and skills with others, taught youth workers and NGO members how they could make their initiatives more sustainable, as well as taught them how to transfer entrepreneurial spirit and skills to young people that they are working with on a daily basis. Before this project, we had hosted two successful international Erasmus+ Training Courses on the topic of social entrepreneurship in Poland (More than Money 2020-2-PL01-KA105-082624, Off the ground 2021-2-PL01-KA153-YOU-000040577) that tackled the topic of social businesses. We had been more than happy with the results of activities that we already implemented and we had decided that we wanted to implement more, with all our new experiences and ideas for activities and with new partners who we hadn’t cooperated yet on this topic to share our skills and experience further and further, as well as completely brand new to Erasmus+ programme organisations that would for sure benefit a lot from this partnership. We also invited two organisations that we cooperated before to build on our previous experiences and continue exchange of skills and knowledge in the topic of social entrepreneuship. In this way, we continued developing a network of supporting organisations in Europe who work with the topic of SE and support youth workers in developing entrepreneurial skills based on sustainability. Specific objectives of the “SErious business” project: - To promote social entrepreneurship (SE) as a sustainable way to reach social goals; - To deliver hands-on practical knowledge and attitudes by visiting existing social enterprises; - To help participants create realistic models of their own social enterprises; - To enhance skills of participants in promotion, mainly digitally; - To promote inclusion.
