Objectives

As an organization working for equality and justice, we constantly monitor and notice numerous social problems resulting from the insufficient involvement of women in decision-making processes, not only in our country, but also in partner countries. We have observed too little awareness of understanding and implementing feminism at the local level in partner countries, too little capacity of partner organizations to work with young women and engage them in civic life at the local level; the need to develop participants' leadership and communication skills and their knowledge about feminism, gender equality and gender justice. A significant problem is the low participation of young women in the political sphere in the partner countries, young women are least represented in decision-making bodies at the local level. Excluding young women from passing laws and being excluded from decision-making undermines their valuable contribution to the well-being of future generations. After all, equality between women and men is one of the fundamental values of the European Union. Women make up half of humanity, but only 1/3 of Europe's policy makers and about 15% of mayors. A study conducted by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions in 2019 (“Women in Politics: Local and European Trends”) shows that politics remains a men's world. parties should raise awareness of the real state of gender inequality. Funding and political support for training and mentoring programs for aspiring women leaders should also be provided. The report shows that the project's partner countries have some of the lowest rates of women's representation at local government level in Europe. Equal representation and influence of women and men in political and social life, at all levels of government, is a precondition for a democratic society. Women's full and substantive participation in political life, both civic and public, is essential for good governance and shaping of politics and social life. The need for gender equality in civic life and strengthening women's voices is discussed in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the strategy of the Council of Europe, the European Convention on Human Rights and other conventions, the EU Treaties, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the EU gender equality strategy, the European Youth Goals and many others international obligations. Goals: - equipping participants with tools and interactive methods for actively engaging women in civic life, so that they can use them in their work in their local communities in the future; - training participants how to use new digital technologies in working with women at the local level; - making participants aware of what feminism is, what gender equality and gender justice mean and how they can work to strengthen women's rights at the local level and deepen their knowledge on this topic; - teaching participants and partner organizations to implement local feminism and take concrete actions to increase women's participation in local politics and democratic life, promote active citizenship of young women in their local communities, their sense of initiative and empowerment, strengthening their voices; - strengthening and development of leadership competences, self-awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively, assertively and without violence; - deepening participants' knowledge about the situation of women in their countries; - discussion and generation of concrete ideas on how participants, as youth workers and local activists, can reach young women in their communities and motivate them to engage in civic life; - creating a space for participants to exchange ideas, experiences and good practices on effective work with young women at the local level in partner countries; - strengthening the partnership between the project's partner organizations, both from the Erasmus+ program and from partner countries.
