The project was a continuation of activities carried out under the previous Erasmus KA153-YOU initiative, dedicated to the topic of intercultural education and intersectoral cooperation between European Union and North African countries, coordinated by our school, implemented in Egypt in February 2023. Together with 5 partner organizations from Egypt, Jordan, Italy, Hungary and North Macedonia participating in that project, we decided to organize another event during which our employees could supplement the knowledge acquired during the previous project with methods of including and integrating newly arriving young migrants into the local community. Additionally, we invited 4 new organizations from Germany, Greece, Ukraine and Turkey to participate in the project, which did not have to deal with migrants a few years ago, but have recently had to face their influx into their local communities due to: - the war in Ukraine; - unstable political situation and armed conflicts in North African countries; - war in Syria and Afghanistan; - economic crisis in Europe causing high unemployment, especially among young people looking for a chance for a decent life outside the country of their birth; - difficult political situation and persecution in Russia and Belarus. In total, we involved 10 partner organizations from 7 Program Countries (Poland, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Greece, North Macedonia, Turkey) and 3 Partner Countries (Ukraine, Egypt, Jordan) in joint project activities. The main goal was achieved through the implementation of project activities was to improve the competences of 30 youth workers and people working with youth related to supporting young migrants in the processes of integration and assimilation in the new environment. Participation in workshops and project classes enabled 30 people working with youth to learn new tools used for: - efficient management of an international group as part of, for example, extracurricular activities, providing mentoring support to facilitate the building of an international team that operates efficiently, understands each other and has a sense of co-responsibility for the tasks performed. ; - building effective cooperation schemes with public authorities (local governments, Police) and third sector organizations operating in the field of counteracting racism and discrimination, creating and managing teams aimed at carrying out monitoring and educational actions aimed at local communities; - conducting effective mentoring and support in the process of organizing local events, prepared by volunteers and young people of migrant origin, promoting the cultural diversity of Europe and the values of respect and tolerance; - organizing intercultural education classes addressed to children and young people participating in non-formal education classes conducted by partner organizations, effective moderation of classes, adapting the content program to the level of knowledge and interests of the participants; - efficient resolution of conflict situations occurring between young people from abroad and members of the local community using non-violent communication methods. In the long term, the implementation of the project enabled: - strengthening the intercultural competences of employees of partner organizations, which in turn facilitates the education of our local youth environments (with particular emphasis on children and young people taking advantage of the sports, recreational, musical and artistic activities offered by our organizations) in terms of understanding cultural diversity, strengthening attitudes of understanding and mutual tolerance, resolving possible conflict situations and misunderstandings at the earliest possible stage. Through the implementation of the project, our employees learned new methods supporting the integration of groups consisting of young people from different countries, they learned what tools can be used to direct young people's emotions towards the features that unite us, interests, mutual help, and there is no competition and building mutual prejudices;- strengthening the sense of security of young migrants in our local communities. Through project workshops, employees of our organizations acquired knowledge on how to properly respond to verbal and physical violence against migrants, and learned how to respond in situations of discrimination; - the quality of management and communication in international groups to which our organizations address their activities has improved, employees of our organizations have implemented new solutions in the field of mentoring support for young people coming to our countries and supporting their integration with the local community.
