Objectives

The main objective of ER4CCIs was to promote youth entrepreneurship in Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) by developing and offering a gamified approach to training to young people and CCI trainers, specifically through the use of Escape Rooms. In developing the project activities and incorporating gamified elements into the learning process, the partners focused on creating an engaging and immersive learning environment in the area of entrepreneurship. The partners focused on entrepreneurship, defined according to EntreComp as a skill that is useful in many areas of life: from personal development to social activism, finding a job, whether as an employee or self-employed, and even starting a business, whether cultural, social or commercial. Therefore, in developing the project outputs (a guide for trainers, escape room scenarios and a white paper), the partners explored the benefits of gamification for CCIs entrepreneurship, methods for creating, preparing and animating escape room processes in CCIs and animating debriefing sessions. Useful and engaging tools have developed that can be used not only within the partners organisation but also by other stakeholders.

Background

More and more young Europeans are interested in working in the cultural and creative sector (CCIs), which plays a very important role in the European economy. This makes it important to make young people from all backgrounds, ethnicities and with or without disabilities aware of the importance of developing their entrepreneurial skills and offering them guidance on their creative ideas. To achieve this, it is crucial to prioritise attractive, innovative and inclusive training methods that are known to appeal to this target group, such as gamification. Through the various activities developed as part of the ER4CCIs project, the partnership focused to raise awareness of the use of Escape Rooms as a tool for acquiring entrepreneurial competences and improve synergies between various CCIs stakeholders. The partnership brought together countries with different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences, and this plurality resulted in the creation of valuable resources for CCI trainers and trainees to propose gamification as an alternative tool to develop competences for young people.
