In implementing the project we wanted to: a/ equip young women facing educational difficulties with digital skills to help them enter the labour market; b/increase the self-esteem of the participants resulting in a reduction of barriers for the participants to take advantage of learning opportunities; c/promote gender equality and counteract stereotypes; d/support the development of sustainable development competences, in line with the EU GreenComp. The project was intended to respond to digital transformation, adapting young people to technological change. The activities were a response to the EU strategy on the use of digital technologies for the benefit of citizens. We wanted to promote EU identity and values through the international experiences of both project participants and partner organisations. The project created a space for female participants to actively participate in EU society. The partners wanted to strengthen and enrich their organisations through the exchange of knowledge and experience. The Icelandic organisation was to gain its first experience of working on an Erasmus Plus-funded project and the Polish organisation was to undertake a project in the area of Youth for the first time.
Our motivation stemmed from the need to confront the challenges of digital transformation, particularly in the context of the EU strategy. The EC's commitment to making this decade the 'digital decade' further raised the importance of this issue. The project focused on addressing the needs of women who, for a variety of reasons, left education early and have low digital skills. Statistics showed that many of them do not have time to learn, and the digital job market, especially in social media marketing, is growing rapidly. The partners wanted to create a structured learning programme with three types of training: outdoor activities (Outdoor Learning), offline digital competency workshops and online training. The collaboration between the partners has allowed the development of a curriculum that motivates young women to learn and acquire key digital skills. Through a variety of training methods, and mainly through the use of the OL method, we strengthened the commitment of the participants, who discovered their individual talents. The ultimate goal was to improve the living standards of the participants by acquiring competences relevant for today's and tomorrow's labour market.
